Welcome to Citizens for the Train

"Citizens for the Train" was established through the efforts of the Main Street Community Development Corporation, a 501 C (3) organization. What is the greenline?

The greenline is passenger rail service being established between Oaks, Pennsylvania and the R-5 Philadelphia Main Line western suburban route. The recent study examined the conceptual plan for a passenger rail link between Phoenixville Pennsylvania and Paoli SEPTA/AMTRAK station. When the potential line was studied it became evident that there could be an additional link to Oaks Pennsylvania because that is the ending point for the 10 mile Norfolk Southern Devault freight line which would need to be acquired to establish the greenline.

The greenline would move commuters through the use of light rail from the very congested 422 corridor to the job centers at Great Valley Corporate Center in Chester County Pennsylvania. The line would also connect to the existing Philadelphia Main Line service and AMTRAK Keystone line making the Philadelphia City workforce more accessible to jobs in the Corporate Center.

The potential for the greenline to link a number of "Brownfield Projects" in Chester County with the rail service including Phoenixville's PPG brownfield, Glasgow Quarry, Atwater, the Knickerbocker site, Worthington Steel and the Paoli Train Yard Project.
